1. 🧐 C-Suite Expresses Concern Over Generative AI Amidst Rising Adoption
A survey by Insight Enterprises and The Harris Poll shows a surge in the utilization of generative AI by businesses, with a remarkable 72% of Fortune 500 leaders planning to harness its power for productivity in the coming three years. However, quality control and safety concerns still loom, with approximately 50% of respondents expressing reservations. It's anticipated that generative AI will affect certain organizational roles, as agreed upon by 90% of the surveyed business leaders.
2. 🎓 Stanford University Witnesses Doubling of AI-related Courses Amidst Tech Boom
Following OpenAI's ChatGPT launch, the AI fascination has gripped Stanford University, resulting in the doubling of AI-related courses within the last half-decade. This increased interest has permeated various academic fields, leading to a broadened exploration of AI's societal, political, and philosophical impacts. The surge in AI democratization has sparked a debate about the future of coding, though students perceive AI as a tool for enhancing critical thinking.
3. 📈 Searches for 'AI Jobs' Quadruple 'Crypto Jobs' in 2023
Cryptocurrency data aggregator CoinGecko's latest study reports a significant increase in "AI jobs" searches, surpassing "crypto jobs". The launch of ChatGPT in November 2022 led to a drastic rise in "AI jobs" searches, hitting almost five times the peak number of "crypto jobs" searches in 2023. Singapore takes the lead in the highest search interest for both "AI jobs" and "crypto jobs".
4. 📉 AI Unsuccessful in Reversing Q2 Global Venture Funding Dip
Q2 2023 saw a significant drop in global venture funding, marking an 18% dip from Q1 and a 49% fall from Q2 2022, totaling $65 billion. Although this reflects a broader trend of funding decline, AI-related ventures have been a beacon of hope, drawing almost a fifth of all venture funding for the year. Late-stage funding has been hit the hardest, recording the lowest quarter since 2018.
5. 🚀 OpenAI Unveils the Superalignment Initiative
OpenAI is spearheading a project to tackle the challenges of superintelligence alignment, ensuring that AIs smarter than humans align with human intentions. The plan involves building an automated alignment researcher of about human-level intelligence and iteratively aligning superintelligence using scalable training, model validation, stress testing, and adversarial testing methods. OpenAI has committed 20% of its secured compute for the next four years towards achieving this ambitious goal.
