🧰 AI How-To
How to Use the Generative Fill Features in Adobe Photoshop
Update Photoshop: Ensure you have the latest Photoshop beta version (24.6) by installing it from the Creative Cloud app.
Open Image: Load the image you want to edit in Photoshop.
Image Expansion: Use the Crop Tool to expand the image by adjusting the canvas size. Select and mask the expanded area, then click on "Generative Fill" in the contextual taskbar.
Adding New Objects: Use a selection tool (e.g., Lasso Tool) to create a mask around the area where you want to add an object. Click on "Generative Fill" and enter a simple prompt (e.g., "kayak") to generate AI-based suggestions. Choose the desired variation and apply it to the image.
Removing Objects: Select the area you want to remove using a suitable selection tool. Click on "Generative Fill" without providing a prompt. The AI will analyze the selection and generate options for removing the content. Choose the most suitable variation and apply it.
Refining and Adjusting: Fine-tune the generated content using Photoshop's additional editing tools. Adjust colors, blending modes, or apply other adjustments to seamlessly integrate the new objects or remove unwanted elements.
Experiment with Prompts: Try different text prompts to explore various styles or effects for generating new content. Note the AI's response and adjust prompts accordingly to achieve the desired outcome.
Review and Enhance: Evaluate the generated variations and make any necessary adjustments to ensure the newly added objects blend well with the image. Use Photoshop's editing tools to enhance details, adjust lighting, or make any additional modifications.
Save and Export: Once satisfied with the changes, save your edited image in the desired format (e.g., JPEG, PNG) to preserve the modifications made using Generative Fill.
